Born on March 9, 1938, in Stamford, Connecticut, to Helen and Theodore Milone, Tony grew up in the city that he would call home for over six decades. He attended J.M. Wright Technical School, where he honed his skills in carpentry. As a master carpenter, Tony was known for his exceptional craftsmanship and ability to build with precision and skill.

A Life of Service: Tony Milone’s Career as Stamford Fire Chief

Anthony J. Milone dedication to public service led him to join the Stamford Fire Department, where he served with honor for 33 years. His leadership qualities and unwavering commitment to his community’s safety earned him respect and admiration, ultimately leading to his appointment as Stamford Fire Chief in 1998.

Throughout his tenure as Chief, Tony was admired for his strong leadership, dedication, and the pride he took in his work. He retired on July 1, 2000, leaving behind a legacy of excellence and camaraderie within the firefighting community.

Anthony J. Milone was married to his beloved wife, Marguerette Milone, for 64 years. Together, they built a life filled with love, joy, and cherished memories. They raised three sons—Anthony Jr., Theodore, and Emil—who were the center of Tony’s world. His family brought him immense happiness, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

In his retirement, Anthony achieved a lifelong dream by relocating to Apache Junction, Arizona, where he designed and built his dream home beneath the stunning Superstition Mountains. He embraced the tranquility and beauty of the desert lifestyle for over 20 years. In 2021, Tony returned to Connecticut, where he spent his final years surrounded by his family and the comforting familiarity of the east coast.

Anthony is survived by his three sons: Anthony Jr. (Dana), Theodore (Lynn), and Emil (Alma), as well as five grandchildren—Kelly, Anthony III (Samantha), Thomas (Morgan), Haylee, and Mia—whom he adored. He also became a great-grandfather last year to Theodore T. Milone, whose presence always brought joy to Tony’s life.

Anthony is also survived by his sister Grace (Mike) Guarnieri, brother-in-law Raymond (Elaine) Cuzzocreo, sister-in-law Claudia Milone, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Marguerette Milone, his brother, Theodore Milone, and several close friends who were like family to him.

In 2023, Anthony became a resident of Bridges by EPOCH Memory Care in Trumbull, Connecticut, where he received exceptional care from the staff, particularly Kendra, who showed unwavering kindness and support to Tony and his family. The family is deeply grateful for the compassion and dedication of the entire Bridges by EPOCH team.

He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a respected leader who made a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
