Missing 5-year-old Miles McMahon Found Dead: A community is mourning the loss of 5-year-old Miles McMahon, whose body was found in a pond late Sunday night after a day-long search in Waldorf, Maryland. Miles was reported missing from the 1000 block of St. Pauls Drive at around 11 a.m., prompting an immediate response from local law enforcement.
According to police, security footage captured Miles leaving his home and skipping in the front yard before he wandered off. Family members conducted their own search in the surrounding area and contacted Police when they could not locate him.
Police quickly established a perimeter and began a coordinated search effort, focusing their attention on nearby ponds. Tragically, just before 1 a.m. Monday, the Maryland State Police dive team discovered Miles in a pond that had previously been searched by another unit during the day.

Police confirmed that the pond and its vicinity were the main areas of concern throughout the search. Despite the initial efforts, it was the dive team’s night search that ultimately led to the heartbreaking discovery. Miles, who had autism and was nonverbal, was described as being 4 feet tall, weighing 60 pounds, with shoulder-length brown hair. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a red shirt, but no pants or shoes.
The community is rallying together in support of the McMahon family during this devastating time. Local officials are urging residents to take extra precautions to ensure the safety of children, especially those with special needs. As the investigation continues, police are gathering details to understand the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident. The Charles County community remains in shock as they remember Miles and offer condolences to his family.
