Samuel Joshua Holyfield Flint Obituary– The community of Shinnston mourns the tragic and unexpected passing of Samuel Joshua Holyfield Flint, 17, who died on Friday, October 11, 2024.
Samuel was born on March 20, 2007, in Clarksburg, to Joshua D. Flint of Shinnston and Rebecca Alexis Mauresia Isabel Holyfield Taylor of Pittsburgh. He is remembered as a beloved son, brother, grandson, and friend to many.

Samuel was a senior at Lincoln High School, where he was actively involved in academics and athletics. He participated in several sports, including wrestling, football, track, cross country, and basketball, and was a dedicated member of Lincoln Athletics. His passion for physical fitness extended to his love of working out at the gym, and he was known for his enthusiasm and dedication on and off the field.
In addition to his school life, Samuel had a bright future ahead. He was employed at Chick-Fil-A, where he was advancing rapidly in his role. He had plans to become a physical therapist, demonstrating his commitment to helping others and his drive to succeed. His quick-witted humor and friendly nature made him a cherished friend and companion to many.

Samuel leaves behind a large and loving family. He is survived by his parents, Joshua D. Flint and Rebecca Alexis Mauresia Isabel Holyfield Taylor (and her husband John Taylor); his brother, Adam Fleming, of Morgantown; his grandparents, Walter R. and Donna Flint of Morgantown, Ronnie and Kathy Harrison of Kingwood, Marc Samuel Holyfield I of Salem, Shana Holyfield of Sacramento, CA, and Elizabeth Bowers of Stonewood; and great-grandparents, Grover Cole of Tunnelton and Betty Curtis of Stonewood. Samuel also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and two beloved dogs, Cash and Scout.
Samuel was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Edna Leona and Richard Henry Flint, Jr., Nina Alice Cole, and Paula Mavis Holyfield. His great-grandmother, Edna Leona Flint, was also his best friend.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike St., Shinnston, on Monday, October 14th, from 2-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 15th, at 11 a.m., officiated by his great-uncle, Pastor Michael Holyfield. Interment will follow at Shinnston Memorial Cemetery.

Samuel’s sudden passing has left a deep void in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be remembered for his humor, hard work, and dedication to his family, friends, and passions. His bright spirit will be deeply missed.
